AeroPress
A plastic tube and plunger that brews a clean cup in about a minute.
Where it comes from
Invented by Stanford engineering lecturer Alan Adler, maker of the Aerobie flying disc, and launched in 2005.
It has its own world championship, held every year since 2008.
How to make it at home
- Put a paper filter in the cap, screw it on and stand the AeroPress on a sturdy mug.
- Add the coffee and shake it level.
- Pour water to the 4 mark and stir for 3 seconds.
- Insert the plunger slightly to stop dripping, and wait 60 seconds.
- Press gently until you hear a hiss.
Works with almost any coffee.
